Dorsi: limits, evidence and what we do not claim
Dorsi is a connected lumbar cushion for wellness: support, mobility check, guided exercises, indicative summaries. It is not a medical device. We make no claim of a cure or of a percentage drop in pain, and no claim to replace a health professional.
What this guide covers
Connected lumbar cushion, posture corrector, back pain when sitting, low back pain when working from home, low back pain prevention, desk posture, back programme, supervised low back rehabilitation, physiotherapist, workplace wellbeing, active older people and carers.
Each page links everyday habits, short exercises and the Dorsi cushion as a routine tool, with no promise to treat any condition.
Recommended daily routine
10 minutes a day: micro-breaks, guided movements, mini-games or a guided programme.
Share the indicative summaries with your physiotherapist if you are under their care. If your pain increases, see a health professional.
Hydration, short walks and sleep: compare with your Elio band to see whether tiredness makes morning stiffness worse.

What we do not claim
Not a medical device. No cure for low back pain. No invented statistics (−40%, unpublished studies). No replacement for a doctor or physiotherapist.
Warning signs: get help quickly
Call 999 or 112 (in France also 15), or seek urgent care, especially if you have: pain after a severe injury; fever alongside the pain; progressive weakness or numbness in a leg; new bladder or bowel problems; intense night pain that does not ease; a history of cancer with recent pain; unexplained weight loss.
These examples draw on general public prevention messages (Ameli, the French national health insurance, and emergency services). They do not replace medical advice. Outside an emergency: pain that lasts, sciatica or any uncertainty → doctor or physiotherapist.
Regulatory classification (public statement)
Dorsi is presented as a connected wellness product, not a medical device for diagnosis.
No public medical-device certificate is on record to cite, and Dorsi is not described as “medically certified”.
Key claims: what is supported and what is not
Diagnosis: not supported. Assessment: partly supported (indicative only). Prevention: partly supported (habits, no guarantee). Rehabilitation: partly supported (a tool to help you stick with exercises). Pain reduction: not supported (no public study). Posture: partly supported (indicative sensor). Gamification: supported (mini-games). Tracking: supported (indicative history).
Detail: product documentation and section pages, with no extrapolation.
Missing evidence (transparency)
Not on public record: a proprietary clinical trial, a published university study, quantified customer cases, downloadable lab tests, medical-device certifications, named physiotherapists who “recommend” it.
The French sources Ameli, HAS and INRS, and the WHO, give context on low back pain; they do not prove that Dorsi is effective.
Key facts
What Dorsi is: Dorsi is the Chutex connected lumbar cushion (about 980 g, 38×38×10 cm) that you sit on, for lower back mobility. It is a connected wellness product: not a medical device, not a diagnosis, not a treatment. Price: £199 (local VAT and duties may apply on delivery). One-time purchase.
How it works: you sit on Dorsi and start the check in the Chutex app (Bluetooth). The app guides movements (pelvic tilts, side tilts, circles); the cushion’s 9-axis sensor records the degrees of tilt and the app builds an indicative, exportable lower back mobility check. Mini-games, played by moving on the cushion, are then used for regular activity.
Home use: Dorsi is used at home: at your desk, working from home, on the sofa, in bed, and in the car (strap depending on the kit). It supports a short routine of exercises and mini-games. If pain persists or you notice warning signs, consult a professional: the tool does not replace care.
Use by physiotherapists: in the practice, Dorsi can serve as complementary equipment: guided exercises, supervised patient autonomy, indicative summaries that can be shared. The physiotherapist carries out the clinical assessment and decides the plan. Dorsi does not replace the physiotherapist. Hub: /professionnels/dorsi-kine-osteo/.
Assessment: Dorsi provides an assisted lower back mobility check and tracking of how it changes, strictly indicative. This is not a medical diagnosis. Wording we use: indicative functional assessment, assisted check. Clinical diagnosis stays with the professional.
Exercises: the app offers guided programmes in short sessions, focused on mobility and posture habits. These are not medical prescriptions. Exercises page: /sante-du-dos/exercices-lombaires/.
Gamification: mobility mini-games with scoring complement the programmes to help you stick with them. Gamification aims at regularity, not proof of a cure. Details: /sante-du-dos/exercices-lombaires-interactifs/.
Limits: Dorsi does not treat back pain, does not make diagnoses, is not a medical device and does not replace a doctor or a physiotherapist. No clinical study specific to Dorsi has been published to date, and no pain-reduction figure is put forward. Limits & evidence: /sante-du-dos/dorsi-limites-preuves/. Emergencies: 999 or 112 (in France also 15).
The Chutex ecosystem: back, recovery, body composition, strengthening
Dorsi anchors your lower back routine at the desk and in the car. The Elio band adds sleep, heart rate variability (HRV) and stress at the wrist, so you can compare tiredness with posture.
The Vita scale adds estimated body composition and nutrition. Model I strengthens the back with the guided pulley.
The Chutex pack includes Aria AI. Hosting of health data with a provider certified under HDS (the French health-data hosting certification) is reserved for eligible accounts in France and is not a promise outside France.
Chutex Care: telecare service (SOS/GPS) for the Elder vest, France only. Separate from the Dorsi Health cushion.
