Why a page for older adults and their caregivers?
According to Santé publique France, 174,824 fall-related hospital admissions were counted among people aged 65 and over in France in 2024, up 20.5% from 2019, and 20,148 people aged 65 and over died in connection with a fall, up 18%; the hospital admission rate is 8.6 times higher among people aged 85 and over than among those aged 65 to 74. Worldwide, the WHO counts 684,000 deaths from falls each year, the second leading cause of unintentional injury death.
The fall is not the only issue. According to the HAS and Assurance Maladie, it often happens at home, during everyday activities, and can lead to a loss of independence and to post-fall syndrome, the fear of falling again that reduces activity. Isolation adds to this: a person living alone cannot always call, and their distant loved ones have no simple way of being notified without a camera.

Which answer for which situation?
A 70-year-old who walks every day and an 88-year-old who has already fallen do not have the same needs.

Chutex Care: preventive telecare
Chutex Care is a preventive telecare service offered internationally. The beneficiary wears an Elio 4G band with an SOS button, autonomous, with no router or landline, with GPS depending on the offer. During an alert, Aria calls to clear the doubt, then notifies loved ones and guardians; the beneficiary has their app, the guardians their space.
In France, Care also includes a medical teleconsultation, separate from the voice check, and escalation to a partner home-care company; the price there is 39.90 euros per month including VAT, without commitment. Care is not regulated medical remote monitoring: it does not call the emergency services and does not replace 15 or 112 in France.
- 1Alert SOS button pressed, indicative health threshold crossed or Elder airbag deployed.
- 2Voice check Aria calls the beneficiary, at any hour, to understand what is happening.
- 3A guardian steps in A guardian signals that they are stepping in, the others see it; in France, escalation can go to the partner home-care service.
- 4Closure The alert is closed; the history stays in the guardian space.
Elder: the airbag vest that cushions the fall
Elder is an airbag vest, category II personal protective equipment with CE marking, certificate RICOTEST 0498. It detects a fall in progress and deploys an airbag before impact to cushion the head, neck, back, pelvis, hips and femoral neck, then alerts loved ones through the app. It can be reused once the two cartridges have been replaced.
Elder weighs 1.2 kg (2.6 lb), offers 36 hours of battery life, is rated IP54, comes in sizes S to XXL and costs 879 euros including VAT in France. It does not prevent the fall, it cushions its impact; it does not guarantee the absence of injury, does not call the emergency services and is not a medical device.
What do Elio and Vita measure for an older person?
Elio is a screenless health band of about 65 g (2.3 oz) with 15 days of battery life. It tracks heart rate and its variability, SpO₂, sleep, activity, recovery and a stress indicator; the on-demand single-lead ECG is not diagnostic. Vita, an 8-electrode bioimpedance scale, tracks weight and body composition as indicative estimates. Neither one is a medical device.
What matters is not the day’s value but the trend: sleep that gets shorter over several weeks, activity that drops, weight that slips. These curves come together in the longevity passport of the app, which is free on iOS 14 or later; Aria organizes the history and explains what is changing, without making a diagnosis; what comes next is decided with your doctor.
What do loved ones see, and what do they not see?
In the app, the person chooses their guardians and what they share with each one; nothing is shared without their consent, which can be withdrawn at any time. A guardian receives the alerts of the Care contract, sees who has taken charge of an alert and the history, and, if the person has so decided, the trends they wish to show.
A guardian sees no camera and has no access to what the person has not shared. Health data is hosted in France at Free Pro, HDS certified for activities 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6; Chutex is the data controller and is not itself HDS certified. The caregiver is notified when needed, without continuous surveillance.

What can you do yourself to prevent falls?
The devices support prevention, they do not replace it. According to the HAS and Assurance Maladie, fall prevention is multifactorial: physical activity, adapting the home, reviewing medications. The WHO recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week for an adult and counts a lower risk of falls in older adults among the benefits of regular activity; in 2022, 31% of adults worldwide did not reach this benchmark. According to Inserm, based on the Santé publique France barometer, adults in France slept an average of 6 hours 42 minutes per weeknight in 2017, below the 7 hours usually recommended.
- Move every day, walking, balance, strengthening: Elio counts steps, Model I is used for strengthening at home.
- Sleep enough and regularly: Elio tracks sleep duration and regularity, without diagnosing.
- Adapt the home, lighting, rugs, bathroom, footwear: one of the three levers of the HAS and Assurance Maladie.
- Have your medications reviewed by your doctor or pharmacist, the third lever.
What support is available in France?
In France, Chutex Care costs 39.90 euros per month including VAT, with no commitment and no set-up fee, or 19.95 euros after the indicative tax credit; this second amount depends on the household’s situation, is subject to conditions and is never guaranteed for every household. Elder, 879 euros including VAT, is a purchase, not a subscription.
The financial aid and tax credit page, linked at the bottom of this page, details the known conditions and the steps to take. Outside France, no financial aid is described on this website: the price shown in the currency of the market is the price to pay.
What Chutex does not do for older adults
These limits are the same on every page of the website, in every language.
- Chutex is not a healthcare facility and replaces neither a doctor nor an emergency service; no device makes a diagnosis.
- Elder does not prevent the fall: it cushions its impact and alerts loved ones after deployment; it does not call the emergency services.
- Care is not regulated medical remote monitoring or an emergency service: Aria clears the doubt and notifies the guardians, without calling the emergency services on the person’s behalf.
- The teleconsultation doctors and the partner home-care network are available in France only; elsewhere, Care works with the band, Aria, the alerts and the guardians.
- Elio does not detect falls, does not measure blood pressure and is not a glucose meter; the SOS and 4G GPS belong to the band of the Care contract.
- Chutex has no public phone line: contact by email, no cold calling in its name.

Information page for older adults and their loved ones, not medical advice: after a fall with an injury, when feeling unwell or in a life-threatening emergency, call your country’s emergency number, 911 in the United States, 999 or 112 in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Chutex is not an emergency service and its devices make no diagnosis.
