Oura Ring alternatives in 2026: smart rings and bands without a monthly fee

On 14 October 2026, Oura listed Ring 4 from $349 and a US membership of $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year. WHOOP listed yearly plans from $199 with the band included. Elio is $264 once on the US product page, with no monthly fee shown there. Prices move.

Why people look for an Oura Ring alternative

The searches behind this page are about the membership, the price, and other devices, not about the word Oura alone. Oura’s own help article, last updated 6 October 2026, says membership for Gen3 and newer unlocks the full app. Without an active membership you still see the three daily scores (Readiness, Activity, and Sleep), ring battery, basic profile information, app settings, and Explore content. You do not get detailed sleep analysis, 24/7 heart rate, blood oxygen, daytime stress, or the Oura API. Gen2 does not require a membership.

A new member receives one month with the ring purchase. The help article says that month starts when the ring is paired, cannot be paused, and is followed by automatic monthly or yearly billing unless you cancel. If you cancel during the complimentary month, you are not charged. After that, you keep access until the end of the period you already paid. Partial refunds are not available for a canceled prepaid or annual plan once the complimentary month has ended. Data stays in the account if you do not delete it, and you can export a CSV from the Membership Hub.

This page does not rank a winner. A ring and a screenless band are different objects. The useful comparison is the bill, the form, and what still works if you stop paying.

Oura Ring 4 Ceramic and the gold Ring 4 card each showed two dollar amounts on 14 October 2026. This table keeps both. It does not guess which figure is a discount.

WHOOP’s page lists the device inside the yearly plan. That is a different bill from Oura, where you buy the ring and then a membership, and from Elio, where the US page shows one payment.

Smart rings

Oura’s store on 14 October 2026 is a ring shop: Ring 4 from $349, Ring 5 from $399, Ring 4 Ceramic listed at $399. The Ring 4 page says the ring uses green and infrared LEDs for heart rate and heart rate variability, red and infrared LEDs for blood oxygen, a temperature sensor, and an accelerometer. It also says the ring is water resistant to 100 meters. Those are Oura’s descriptions of the hardware, not a lab comparison run by Chutex.

Membership is what turns the ring into the daily product. The help article says an active membership includes detailed sleep analysis, 24/7 heart rate, advanced temperature, blood oxygen, daytime stress, resilience, cycle insights, and reports. The membership page says you need to buy, activate, and wear a ring to unlock the daily insights that come with membership. There is no lifetime membership for sale. Some older Gen3 accounts still have a lifetime plan from an earlier promotion, and that plan stays on the same account.

If the search is for a ring without a fee, the pages read on 14 October 2026 do not show a current Oura ring that keeps the detailed insights with no membership. Gen2 is the stated exception, and it is a previous generation.

Screenless bands

WHOOP, on the US membership page read the same day, sells the band as part of the plan. One is $199 per year with a 5.0 device and a basic charger. Peak is $239 per year with a 5.0 device and a wireless PowerPack. Life is $359 per year with an MG device. Each line on that page says 14+ days of battery. The FAQ says the membership includes a lifetime warranty while the membership is active, for devices bought from WHOOP. ECG and irregular-rhythm notifications are described there as medically regulated features that are not offered in every region and not for every age. This page does not treat those features as equivalent to a wellness ECG.

Elio is the other screenless band in the table. The US product page calls it a screenless wellness band for sleep and heart rate variability trends, with a single-lead ECG in the app. Battery life on that page is 15 days. The structured price is 264 US dollars. HDS hosting and physician teleconsultation are described there as available in France, not as a US medical service.

A band is not a smaller ring. Finger and wrist are different wear habits. Choose the form first, then the bill.

Elio and Oura

Elio does not replace an Oura ring, and this page does not call it the best ring. It is a wrist band with a one-time US price and no monthly line on the product page. Oura is a ring plus a membership that, for Gen3 and newer, is what unlocks the detailed app. Someone who wants the ring and will keep the membership is not the same buyer as someone who wants one payment and a band.

Neither product, in the pages read here, is a reason to skip care. Elio’s US page says it is not FDA-cleared, not FDA-evaluated, and not a diagnosis. In an emergency in the United States, call 911. Chutex medical teleconsultation is currently available in France.

Heart rate variability numbers from a ring, a band, and a research electrocardiogram are not interchangeable. The guide on normal ranges explains the 5 minute and 24 hour figures. A subscription does not turn a night score into that research value.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Oura Ring require a subscription?

For Gen3 and newer, Oura’s help article updated 6 October 2026 says the detailed insights require a membership. Without it you still see three daily scores, battery, profile, settings, and Explore. Gen2 does not require a membership. New members get one month with the ring, then billing continues until you cancel.

How much is the Oura Ring subscription?

The same help article lists $5.99 per month and $69.99 per year in the United States. The membership page footnote says those US amounts are before tax. Other countries use other prices. Taxes depend on the billing address.

How much does an Oura Ring cost?

On 14 October 2026 the Oura store listed Ring 4 from $349, with Silver at $349, and Ring 5 from $399. Gold on Ring 4 was listed as both $399 and $499, so this page does not collapse that finish to one price.

What is an Oura Ring dupe without a monthly fee?

This page does not name an unofficial copy of the ring. The no-monthly-fee option it can price is Elio, at $264 once on the US product page, which is a screenless band rather than a ring. WHOOP’s US page sells the band inside a yearly membership, from $199.

Oura Ring vs WHOOP: which is cheaper?

They are billed differently. Oura is a ring from $349 plus $5.99 a month or $69.99 a year in the US. WHOOP One is $199 a year with the 5.0 band included. Over several years the totals cross. This page does not pick a winner.

Oura Ring vs Apple Watch or Garmin?

Those watches were not priced from their own stores on 14 October 2026, so this page does not print a watch price. Oura’s pages describe a ring. A watch with a screen is a different product, built around notifications as well as sensors.
